Miniature donkey and #18

I've been using Office 2007 since the upgrade a few months ago. I find Word pretty much the same as before, (it still auto-corrects the entire document, which is a nuisance,) but the look is different. It took some getting used to the "ribbon" along the top of the screen, and trying to find how to print the first time wasn't obvious. I find I do a lot more right clicking in this version, which does save time.
I haven't really noticed too many changes in how I use Outlook or Excel.

#19-21

I realized that when I searched for and posted the video about the pygmy hippo last week, I was basically doing #21! I have seen libraries post funny videos on YouTube before (something about a zombie) so I know the format is useful. I think using humor is the key, and at the same time, valuable library information can be delivered to a new audience.

As for AskAway, I already participate in that, and as an Info Desk librarian, I know about the subscription databases as well.

I've downloaded one more cute video - A tribute American Eskimo dogs.

Friday afternoon joke

Question: What do you get when you cross a librarian and a lawyer?
Answer: All the information you want, except you can't understand it.

Meetings

Finished Playground #17. Previously I had looked at the LV Small Meeting Room and Board Room calendars, but new to me was booking a meeting. I already use the calendar for my own reminders and messages, but I hadn't used it before for this purpose. It is easy, and I will try to remember to use it more in the future.

Rare baby pygmy hippo

I saw this on the news this morning and had to post it!
"Conservationists have been celebrating the birth of a rare pygmy hippopotamus at an Australian zoo. There are less than 3,000 of the endangered animals left in the wild, and zoo keepers say every hippo born is "extremely important" for the species' survival. Monifa, who weighs 13 pounds (six kilos) and is the size of a puppy."
This was a great way to learn how to embed a YouTube video!

Netiquette

I read the articles on email best practices and netiquette. Most points were familiar to me, but there were some good tips on phishing. Also, I never thought of embedding answers into a senders email. Good idea though!
