I signed up for Google Reader, added 6 subscriptions to my reader and created 2 folders: one called Librarianship and the other Nature. One I stumbled upon was Skills for the 21st Century librarian. This turns out to be a blog by Meredith Farkas, the author of Social software in libraries which is in our Professional Collection (see PROF 025.524 FAR.)

As for Google Reader, I'm not too crazy about the layout. All that blue and white is a bit much, the light grey text is not easy to read, and I find the screen overcrowded. That is reason enough for me to not use this service.
I can see why people would use RSS readers, though, as all their favourites would be easy to access in one place, and they would always have the lastest info at their fingertips. For now, I prefer to bookmark sites I like to visit frequently and go in that way, rather than use a reader.
